What do you do?

When the weather looks like this. . . . ( with 60+ mph winds, and snow blowing everywhere and a travel advisory.)

What do you do?
Well I could study all day with my nose in books

but putting on my apron and baking sounded much better.

One of the many joys of Buffalo, staying inside because outside it is cold and blizzardy!!

Remembering our prophet

1910-2008- Gordon B. Hinkley

In remembrance of our Prophet. What a great life he lived, what great service he did in behalf of this church. The growth of the temples, the growth of the church and the increase faith of it's members all reflect our beloved prophet. I am so grateful that I have been raised in this time in history to have been led by such a man. He will always be remembered.

Happy MLK Day!

This might be a miracle to some, today is Martin Luther King Day and John is off of school and I was off of work too! WOW! This is a rare occasion, so we had to celebrate. John and I took some time to go out together today. We went out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant La Tolteca and enjoyed some yummy food, then ran to Target for some quick shopping, and off to our movie. We went and saw Juno. John and I both enjoyed it. It was a cute show, and had quick witty humor. When we came out of the movie, we looked outside and all we could see was white! Yes, it had begun, a nice little lake effect snow greeted us, so a 5 minute drive home ended up being a 30 minute drive. Gotta love Buffalo!
Last Thursday, we had our monthly book club meeting over at our house, the Book this month was These is my words. I must admit we definitely enjoyed the night, talked and ate, but not about the book, just about life! I always love getting together with the girls whether we chat about books, or whatever! (sorry Briste, we took this picture after you left!)

Friday and Saturday I had to work, but while I was hard at work John made sure he did not just sit around! Friday night he joined friends and enjoyed some Pizza with the Ashworth's and Kristen( Aaron was gone too, so John and Kristen were a cute little date). Saturday morning it had snowed several inches so John went out with several of our friends and did some sledding! It sounded like tons of fun, and sorry for not having any pictures but John does not remember the camera when I am not there to remind him!
Luckily I had Sunday off, we enjoyed church for our second week attending sunday school and relief society/priesthood! I know, we have been here for a year and a half, but first we were in Nursery and then Primary, so we are new to being around adults! That afternoon we had a few people over to watch some football. Briste and I made some food, and we all enjoyed watching the game and talking!
Briste and of course Lexi!
Everyone just chillin! We missed Glen and Toran, sorry not in the pic!
I hope everyone had a great holiday!

I must be working too hard! One day after a hard run at the gym, I looked down and saw I was bleeding, and in my brand new shoes!

Each week it is something new! This week it was the Gotee!

FHE on the slopes!

What a great way to spend Monday night! Last night for a nice FHE, John and I took advantage of the nice warm weather, the buy one get one free deal, and our time to take a quick trip and do some snowboarding! It was so fun, we stayed for a few hours, and totally had fun! It was so perfect, the snow was nice, and it was not too cold! It had been a while since I had snowboarded, so it was tons of fun!
Our first lift ride!
What a great run!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I will first warn you, this will probably be a long post, it may be out of order, but hey, lots of things have been going on with us!!
A HUGE merry christmas to all, from the reindeer and santa from our home. I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

John successfully finished school a few days before Christmas and the whole break was so nice to relax with my husband with NO dental school. We celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. The night before we opened up our 1 surprise present, always pj's! All the girls in the family got matching pink ones, and the boys got matching ones too!

Then we had our annual sleepover under the tree. The next morning we woke up to our wonderful presents! I believe this was our first white Christmas, we woke up, looked out our window and saw beautiful white snow!

We were each blessed with so many generous gifts from our family! I recieved pj's, a few nice winter jackets, cookbooks, clothes, and John and I recieved nice bikes from my parents. Now we just need to wait for the weather to warm up so we can go riding!

John said he felt like an old man, because we was happy getting nice dress shirts and ties! We enjoyed the day and the season! Later that day we joined our friends for the Ugly sweater Chrismtas party! We ate, talked, played some games, and made some gift boxes in which we delivered them to less priviledged homes!

We also enjoyed celebrating Christmas in our primary class. I made a Santa cake, please don't judge the frosting job, i did it in like 15 minutes! We have really enjoyed our Sunbeam class and always enjoy the spirit they bring to our lives!

John and I with a few of our kids!
Since I had to work on Christmas day, and I had the opportunity to go home earlier in December, John went home for a few days. I stayed here and worked a few days while he went home. John had a great time at home in AZ, spending Christmas with his family, and doing a few fun things while he was there!
Midday hike with family, friends, and dogs! (look closely)
John and his little brother Jordan! Just looking at these beautiful pictures of beautiful AZ, makes me miss home!
John and his mother and brother also enjoyed cheering on the Phoenix Suns!
To celebrate our Anniversary (a little late) we spent our time on a little get away! We headed up to our nearby friends in Canada, to Niagara on the Lake. We spent the night in a beautiful bed and breakfast home, we had a beautiful room, our own fireplace, and a jacuzzi tub! We had a nice dinner, and that night relaxed in our room, by the fire and enjoyed the jacuzzi tub!! The next morning we were spoiled with a wonderful home cooked meal! The house was beautiful, and we enjoyed our get away! Niagara on the lake is a beautiful little town, cute little shops, snowy, and such a nice relaxing way to spend our anniversary!
Our home away from home!
We enjoyed every day of our holiday break! Going to work was so hard knowing I was leaving John at home. We relaxed, slept in, had breakfast in bed, went shopping, John helped me clean, and go grocery shopping! I am totally bummed that school has to start again!
John and I celebrated New Years over with our good friends, Glen and Christy Ashworth! We all had yummy treats, and enjoyed playing a fun movie dvd game! We had a great night ringing in the new year, all the way until 3 in the morning!! If we look tired and exhusted, it is because we are, this was taken at 3!!

We hope that everyone had a great holiday season, and an even better new year!
Now it is time to shift gears, its back to school time! Yes, for me too, today is the first day of school, John back to the dental lab and me starting my online program! So far, so good I know its the first day, but I am really impressed, audio lectures and powerpoints online! I am actually excited!
WOW, what a post, I know. I will be better at updating the blog as events happen and not once a month!!

I used to think two years was a LONG time.

Yes, it is true! John and I have been married for two years. Our anniversary was on December 20th. I used to think two years was a long time to be married, but now that is here, I can't believe it. These past two years have been the best, with my best friend beside me.
John and I two years ago where married and sealed in the Mesa AZ temple. The past two years have been quite the adventure. We enjoyed our wonderful honeymoon cruise together and then it was time to start real life.
Paying bills, living on our own, going to school, we were living the good life. I graduated from Nursing school and six months after we were married we packed up and moved across the country to good old Buffalo! Welcome to our new home!

The move out to Buffalo was for a good reason, John not only swept me off my feet but all the way to Buffalo for him to go to Dental school, I guess that is a good reason!

Our time here is not only filled with school, work and friends but also SNOW!!

These past two years for John have been extra special because he is enjoying being the recipent of a Sugar Mama. Yes, I have started my first REAL job. I tell him to enjoy it and not get too used to this! No, but I honestly enjoy me job and am so grateful for the oppurtunity in my life to work now before we start our family!
We have loved our past two years together and look forward to our lifetime together. We love just hanging out together, being with friends, traveling, and our families.

This year our anniversary was special for two reasons, one because it was our anniversary and two because it was John's last day of school. `He finished up his test, then sent me off for a nice relaxing massage. It is always nice to get pampered. That night we enjoyed a nice Italian dinner and saw We are Legend. We had not been to the movies in forever! It was a great day!

Sarah leaves John alone during finals...

I thought the best way to not be a distraction to John during a rough week of finals was to leave him, so I did. All the way back to Arizona. I enjoyed a week back in AZ while John (not so much) enjoyed his week here in Buffalo alone studying for finals. I will summarize my time in AZ with some pictures. I had a great time and was so glad to see all my family. We missed John so much, it is hard not being with them during the holidays, but at least I was able to spend some time with them.
My sister and her husband and kids came down, so we spent the week together. I have so much fun with her kids, they are so cute and are good kids. Since I have no kids, I have to brag about my cute nephews. This is Jackson, he just turned one, he loves to laugh and cuddle. Here are a few pics having fun with grandma and grandpa!

I was able to spend some time down in Tucson with John's family. Ashley my sister in law graduated with her nursing degree from UofA, I was able to go down for her graduation. Congrats!!
Here are the two cutest boys! Caden and Jackson posing in front of the tree. We went out and picked out a Christmas tree! Caden wanted the tallest one there(over 12 feet), Grandpa had to say no (which never happens), the tree was $300 dollars. Real trees can be expensive!!
We attended the annual Christmas party with family and friends. The "real" santa was there, its the same one every year. All the kids get gifts, we sing songs, he does tricks, it is quite the production. This is Caden sitting on Santa's lap, telling him he wants a Jungle book coloring book and Shrek Three.
And little Jackson who was not as excited about Santa as Caden was. He did sit there but just screamed!
Here is me with my boys, Jessika and Nick did a Chocolate fountain for my mom, so we
(my parents and I) took their boys to the party!
My mom and dad with their grandchildren posing with Santa.
My sister and her beautiful family before Church!
We hosted a family game night Sunday night after church! We had about 15 people. Lots of yummy food, great company, and fun games. We played family feud, and Guesstures. I think the boys came out ahead but they make up their own rules.(did I say that out loud)
The rest of the family and friends during our game night.
Sisters posing together in our festive Christmas sweaters!!
My sister and I with the boys on the Carosel at the mall, after getting santa pictures done!

The week was also filled with fun times in the Kitchen, baking, and cooking. A day of pampering with massages, pedicures and manicures. We also had a girls night out to see The Forgotten Carols starring Micheal McLean, and it was such a wonderful show. The songs, the show, the spirit of Christmas, WOW, it was amazing, we even got his autograph! It was nice to enjoy the sun everyday, and feel the rays of sun on you even in December!!
It was a great trip, now I am looking forward to John and my little Christmas here together in Buffalo!!

REAL Christmas Tree People

I think it is hilarious that there is a difference, some people are so set on having a fake tree and others a real tree, well a fake one is probably easier and cheaper but. . . there is just something about having a real tree that gets me so excited!
Anyway tonight John and I did a little Tuesday night FHE! We started out by watching Joy to the World. What a great movie, I think everyone should have a copy, I remember seeing that movie each year at the temple Christmas lights. Then off we were to pick us out a Christmas Tree. We successfully picked one out at Lowe's. It definately felt like Christmas time, with the snow falling, our nose's red and cold, and the scent of fresh Christmas trees. We ended the night with a yummy treat from Starbucks.
I know they are more expensive then the local Tim Horten's but OH, so much better. We sipped on some peppermint Hot Chocolate and Caramel Apple Spice. So good, it sure did warm us up! Now the tree is up, and its time to decorate it!!

Happy Birthday to the Best mom in the whole wide world!!

My mom loves to hear those words. Growing up whenever I would say that she pretty much knew I wanted something. But seriously, my mom is the best!
It is her birthday today. On December 3rd a long long time ago. . . She was born. (just kidding)
I want to thanks my mom for all she has done for me and who she is. I love to spend time with my mom, she always puts me first and makes sure I enjoy our time together. She is someone who leads by example, I have learned so much from her by simply doing the little things: scripture, prayer, FHE, temple etc.
I cherish all the memroies I have with you Mom, and I love you!!
Happy Birthday!

I love to spend time together with my mother and the family! (after seeing that picture I kinda miss my long hair!)
A great memory this summer, my mother and me kayaking in the snake river!\
