Newest member of the Family!!!

MY SISTER HAD HER BABY!!!! Yes, my older sister Jessika had a beautiful baby boy on Saturday evening. The baby has yet to be named, they are still deciding between Cash, Cole, and Jackson. I think they are all cute. He weighed in at 8lbs. 9 oz. which is small compared to her last, at 9lbs 11 oz!! She is doing well, and her baby is healthy! I am so proud of her, 100% natural, baby. She said it was hard, but she wanted to do it. She did the new Hypno birthing technique. No pictures of the cute little guy, only on my phone, sorry!! Congrats to her!!!

Saturday night (while my sister was giving birth) John and I went to UNO's pizza with a big group of friends to celebrate Josh's birthday. We all had a great time, and the boys enjoyed watching the BYU football game on the big screen while we eat!! It was a fun night. John and I came home and watched Hard Ball, it is a great little movie, and kinda emotional too!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I can't believe thanksgiving has come and gone. Time is flying by and so did this wonderful day! John began the day by playing in the Turkey Bowl, with guys from the ward and school, he came home a muddy mess but had fun! I began by running my own turkey trot, I did not run in the "real" turkey trot in Buffalo but instead i went to the gym and ran a few miles. I came home and turned on Christmas music!!! I know thanksgiving was not even over and I could not help it. While I was in the Kitchen Baking i enjoyed the sound of christmas carols. This was John and I's first thanksgiving as Husband and wife, and it was fun.

We went over to our friends Missy and Gary Couser along with 9 other people and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. John and I were in charge of bringing an Apple pie, the green bean casserole and the dinner ware. The apple pie turned out great, it was so pretty and I have to give props to John because he did most of it.

The green bean casserole was not the greatest, I tried a new recipe and probably wont use it again, but o well, people still enjoyed it, and I even got a few compliments, but I did not care for it. Here's a beautiful pic, well not so beautiful!

Everybody had a great day, enjoying the turkey and all other sides, and the company was very nice. It made it nice to have people to spend thanksgiving with since family was so far. John and I also spent time discussing some traditions we would like to have within our family and as it grows to do with our kids. We made a list of things we were grateful for and discussed them. We also rented Nacho Libre and watched it on Thanksgiving night! It was a funny but okay movie! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!!
Oh yeah, here is a little pic of the lovely tables, not so Martha Stewart like last year, kinda sad but o well. Thanks to party city, we were able to enjoy dinner on nice turkey plates!!

PS- I am so glad John'smouth felt better today. For the past 4 days he has only eaten, cream of wheat, vitamix smoothies and protein shakes, soups etc. He really tore up his mouth when taking impressions at school, and the inner lining in his mouth was red and raw. OUCH! But THANKFULLY he was able to eat today and enjoy all the food at Thanksgving dinner!!!!

Friday night was spent celebrating Allie's 3rd birthday!! Allie is John's cousins daughter. They had a birthday party for her. She was the only kid there besides at 5month old baby. All the rest where adults. It was fun to meet and hang out with new people who we had not hung out with. She loved opening up all the new presents, we got her a dora the explorer toy. We had ice cream and cake and spent the night talking.

Saturday was the baby shower day. My great friend Kristen, had a baby shower. It was so much fun getting together with the girls, and chatting about babies and all that girl stuff. I led a baby price is right game, it was fun. Showers are always fun! I am so excited for her to have a baby. Along with two other girls, all boys too! We get together and Myself and my friend Briste are the only non pregnant or not mothers there. But it is still totally fun!! We will be there soon enough!

The weekend went by so fast. One thing I have noticed here is that I am ready for bed at 6pm. By 5pm it is black andcold outside and feels like 8 o clock. So I have to force myself to stay up for a little while at night!! I guess that is another joy of being out here in Buff Buff!!

Time is flying in Buff

Wow, already the middle of November! Christmas will be here so fast, I cant believe, I hope the four years go by this fast, then back to AZ! . . . hopefully. But dont get me wrong, we are having a great time out here in cold country.

Friday night we went over to a couple in our ward and played games at their house with 3 other couples. It was fun, we had not hung out with these people so it was fun getting to know more people in the ward. It was a fun game night!!!

Oh yeah, I failed to tell you John came home from school telling me that he had a human brain in his hands, SICK. In lab, after dissecting the entire body and looking at all the structures etc, the Lab guy came over to the body, snipped out the brain and plopped it in John's hands!!! John had the priviledge in dropping the brain into the "think tank" a huge bucket filled with hundreds of brains!!
Saturday - - besides sleeping in and enjoying a nice breakfast and watching the LOST episode from last week on line. That night we went to the mall, holy crowded. It felt like Christmas Eve or something, it was so crowded, I guess that is what people do when its cold in Buffalo. After doing some shopping, I was successful at buying a vest, its really cute. John helped me, I felt so weird, like I was doing something wrong, yeah its been that long since I have bought myself clothes. After the mall, I was hungry and craving some Mexican food, and out here in NY that is lacking but we went to cinco de mayo, which has pretty okay mexican food, but bad service. Anyway, it did satisfy my craving and John and I came home, and spent the rest of the night together ending with the office!!

Stake Conference on Sunday was very enjoyable. With a relaxing afternoon, and a night spent with friends, John studying with the boys and the girls hanging out talking and watching my friend Kristen's wedding video.

This week should be exciting, with two tests for John, an interviewee spending the night on Wednesday and an enrichment night on Friday, and Kristen's baby shower on Saturday!! Crazy Fun!

Talk to you later!
Sarah

Great Weekend!

Well, actually starting on Thursday night, the night before the big Anatomy test, while our husbands studied the night away, us girls took advantage and had a fun girls night. Myself, Kristen, Briste, Alanna, and Stephanie, went over to our other friend Erica's house. We had a nice dinner, and just enjoyed the time together, staying and chatting until midnight.

Friday was the test!! Yeah, that its over, john says besides some silly mistakes he did okay, who knows. We will just wait until the scores come back. I am sure he did fine. That night we met up with 16 of our friends at Montana's Steakhouse, celebrating a birthday. We enjoyed a nice dinner with the gang. We came home and watched a few of our new shows on Johns Laptop The office, and went to bed.

Saturday started bright and early with a nice trip to the temple in Palmyra. John and I enjoyed a lovely session, and a nice drive. What a great way to start of the day, last month we missed our planned trip because we were surprised with several inches of snow, and now the ground is clear.(but probably not for too long). Saturday night John and I went out with our friends Aaron and Kristen to get a nice cup of hot chocolate and then off to the dollar movies( well actually three dollars but better than 9), we saw the movie The Illusionist and it was really good, kinda crazy but I surprisingly enjoyed it and stayed awake!!
Sunday at church John had the chance to help a friend bless their baby boy. Our friends Missy and Gary had a baby boy 5 weeks ago, his name is Briker(spelling ??) and is so cute. That night, we went over to Missy and Gary's house with 5 other couples, and snacked on brownies, leftover halloween candy and enjoyed a few games of Mafia. I am proud to say I won all the games. Surprising I know, but its true!!
Fun Weekend, busy every night!!

Its been a while!!

So, happy halloween, a few days late I know. But nothing to exciting was happening up here at our home this halloween. John and I had a good time carving our pumpkins, we are definately not professionals as you can tell by our jack o lanterns. But having those beatufully carved pumpkins all lit up on Halloween night did not work to persuade trick or treaters to our house. I was all ready with candy but hour by hour passed and no one came. Kind of sad, I was looking forward to having some cute little trick or treaters. John and I did not dress up this year, and no exciting halloween parties. Oh well, maybe next year we can do some more celebrating.

John enjoys showing off his work from the dental lab. In school they were able to choose some fun teeth to make and John made nothing else but a nice gold Bling Bling Grill. Isn't he attractive, yeah right. I can not look at him when that thing is in. I am glad for nice teeth, thats for sure.

It has been a while since I have blogged I know, my computer's harddrive failed on me, luckily it was still under warrenty so it will take no money from my pocket, but I did lose some things that were not saved elsewhere, which kinda stinks, but now I have a new harddrive and working computer!

Its started snowing out the other day, it was so pretty, luckily it did not turn into another disaster! Its just really cold now! Welcome to winter!
Later!!!

John doing what!!!

Yes, John is not only in the kitchen but he is actually cooking... baking to be exact. Besides tasting the batter a few too many times, he made a delicious treat. And he is smiling!!!!

Weekend in a Fort!!

John and I decided to stay in Saturday night, and relax. After a home cooked meal, we went over to Tim Horten's to get some nice Hot Chocolate. Then John came up with the idea that we should make a fort, I just wanted to watch a movie but I agreed. It turned into a fun night, reminding me that I did this stuff when I was ten! The fort was great with blankets and everything, it was pitch black inside. We not only enjoyed the movie Blue Crush on Johns laptop, but also a nice night's sleep in the fort. It was lots of fun!!

Missionaries for Dinner!!!

Tonight we had the good ol' Amherst ward missionaries over for dinner!! ( don't worry I didn't feed them the above picture!) It was quite fun, I was brave and made a new recipe for us all to enjoy! I got it from a great friend of mine, and it was delicious. Cheese enchiladas, brown rice, corn, chips, salsa and homemade guacamole! Oh, that is not all, to top it off, a yummy bar with nothing else than sweetened condensed milk and lots of toppings! It was an enjoyable night!!

From Fun in the Snow to Emergency and Disaster!!!

Well, first you can just see for yourself.

From our back door, where we are supposed to park!

You probably can't tell what that is, but yes it is our maxima!

It's a first but not last. John shovelling the car out, and it was a success, it is ready to drive. But not far because the unsafe conditions!

After the snow plow, you can see the tall pile of snow off the road!

Outside our front door! Close the door, I yelled, we don't want the cold air in!!

The buried Civic, there will be no getting that out for a while!!! ( in the school parking lot!) The reason John had a fun sleepover at the school!

Trees down, all over. Roads were closed, houses and cars were destroyed. The trees brought power lines down.

The reason for no power!!!

Let me just summarize. While in Arizona it is 80, it is cold here to say the least. The few feet of snow are the least of our worries. The tress which were still full of leaves plus the heavy snow equaled broken branches, huge trees falling and powerlines down. The result was no power for over 300,000 people, closed roads, and blocked roads from fallen trees. I never realized how important power was. Living with no lights, no heat (when it is cold, and snowing hard outside), no refrigeration, no TV/movies, no outlet use, is rough. The water lines are predicted to be contaminated, so boiling water is necessary before drinking but with no power that makes it impossible. The prediction is another 8-9 days without power for the long range, so hopefully before. Stores are closed, groceries are scarce with no milk, water and bread. After the first night, being separated from my husband, he being stranded at school, with the civic buried in snow, and a driving ban out. It was scary, luckily he was not alone, and the school had power, or at least a generator, while I stayed with nearby friends Kristen and Aaron where we sat with blankets by candlelight. Last night however we were lucky enough to be invited to Kristen's Aunt and Uncle's home 45 minutes north( which had NO snow or power outages!) It was hard being safe, warm and with food, when so many people are still without power and cold. This is history, the most snow and damage in over 130 years. The city was declared in a state of emergency calling in for federal assistance. Despite all the chaos, John and I are doing fine, staying close with one another. This will make us think of all the things we need to do to better prepare ourselves for future problems. Today is the day when we need to be prepared, huh!! I will keep you updated, love you all!!!

What the .......... SNOW!!!!

Wow!! October the 12th 2006, the first snow fall since moving to Buffalo, welcome to the start of the next several months, Huh. Well, John and I were quite excited even though we don't know what we are in for. John and I went outside to celebrate and enjoy the white stuff that we don't see much of in AZ!!! I wonder if tonight or tomorrow the view may not be so green and fall colors but white!!
